Urban [ Yoga Graphy ]
–
Urban YogaGraphy is more than just a photography series; it’s a visual journey born in the streets of Paris, where the raw energy of the city collides with the serenity of yoga. It all began in October 2017, during a remarkable collaboration with Claire Marvint. Together, we explored the city’s cobblestone alleys and bustling avenues, capturing five photo sessions that blended movement and stillness in perfect harmony.
By the sixth session, a desire emerged to take the project further, to give it a new dimension. That’s when Claire Saintard joined us, bringing a fresh perspective to Urban YogaGraphy and helping us push the boundaries of this fusion between urban life and inner peace.
This project isn’t just about photographing yoga poses in unexpected settings; it’s about telling a story, a story of finding freedom within ourselves amidst the chaos of modern life. In a world where words like “performance,” “career,” and “rush” weigh heavily on our minds, Urban YogaGraphy offers a pause, a breath, a moment to reflect. By placing yoga in the heart of the city, I aim to highlight the contrast: the tranquility of meditative practice set against the ever-moving backdrop of urban streets.
At its core, this series explores a powerful duality: the stillness of yoga versus the frenzy of the city, the calm of the inner world against the noise of the outer one. Through these images, I hope to inspire others to reconnect with their inner selves, to rediscover balance in a world that often pulls us away from it.
And this journey is far from over. I dream of bringing Urban YogaGraphy to life in an exhibition, a space where these photographs can spark emotions, conversations, and perhaps even motivate others to find their own moments of peace. If this resonates with you and you’d like to be part of the next chapter of this project, feel free to reach out. Together, we can continue the story of Urban YogaGraphy.–
