Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer

Brittany

I went to Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer on this long weekend of the Ascension day, as always a perfect opportunity to discover new places and also to take pictures.

Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer is a small village in the north-west of France. The town of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer is located in the department of the Côtes-d’Armor of the french region Brittany. The village is belonging  to the district of Dinan which is located in the township of Ploubalay. This little gem of the Emerald Coast is undoubtedly one of the most charming and authentic villages of this territory. It is to the sea – and to the eleven beaches that border the land – that lead you all the streets and alleys of the borough, once a fishing village. It is the sea, itself, which gives the peninsula its character, its beauty and still nourishes today a large part of its activity, between shellfish farming, boating and tourism. There is sweetness, surprise and happiness here to contemplate the metamorphoses of a landscape tirelessly redesigned by the tides. (Source: City hall)

The village is located on a peninsula bordered on the west by the bay of l’Arguenon and on the east by the bay of Lancieux. To the north of the peninsula is the Ebihens archipelago, which is part of the commune. Inhabitants of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer are called jaguens (masculine) and jaguines (feminine) in French.
